In the state of Indiana the law requires a parent to pay support until age 21. Recently my husbands daughter turned 18. My husbands ex-wife took him to court and not only did his child support double he now has to pay part of her college expenses. This law does not take into consideration our two minor children who are under 4 years of age.One of our children is ill and we have alot of medical expences. However, the state could care less about our children because they feel an adult child is more important. I would like to know who I am going to turn to when I can't afford medication for my minor child. And because of this ridiculous law my children will be forced to live at a low standard. I have to buy my childrens clothes at rummage sales, good-will stores ect. We can't afford new things for them however my Husbands"adult daughter" gets clothes, vacations And new items whenever she wants. I would like to know were the justice is!! Is the state going to pay for my chidren to go to college when they turn 18? This law needs to change it is not fair for my minor children to have to sacrifice basic needs so that we can pay for an "adult childs" college an so called child support.
