Here our cries – make our voices be heard – we will not go away!!!! Reading all of the testimonies on this site should be proof of the desperate need for a change. The "child support" system is unconstitutional and unjust in how it is run. All the efforts of reform being ignored by the government and the politicians is basically a slap in the face, with an I don't care, too bad, sorry about your luck, we would rather jail you, take away your drivers license, and your right to have a decent life attitude, all in the name of the children you did not want to be separated from in the first place. Because 9 times out of 10 your spouse was just unhappy in the marriage and wanted a divorce and now you will pay for her unhappiness until your child is 18. "Child support" is nothing more than a transfer of income from the NCP to the CP with no accountability for how it is being spent and all of the tax break benefits given to the CP. The fact that states are currently not abiding by the Federal Governments suggested “child support" guidelines should be cause for all of us to file a class action suit against the states and the elected officials for blatantly ignoring our rights and the Federal Governments suggested guidelines. The proof of this is in my life or should I say lack of a life, I am married to an NCP with 2 boys - 21 and 16. We can not survive on what is left after the unreasonably high "child support" awarded to the CP are garnished. “Child Support” which was based on “gross” income not “net” as the state of Illinois guidelines are set, because we could not afford an attorney to fight this, but had to pay for her attorney, nor can we afford an attorney to stop the child support being paid for the 21 year old. CP and her husband are living quite nicely off of our misfortune, new van, built a new house after selling the house she kept in from the divorce and selling the new husbands house, new boat, new camper, horses, horse trailer with living quarters, new pool, exercise equipment, vacations every year, just to mention a few things the so-called "child support" has enabled her to purchase. Should we talk about hidden alimony? The boys have been forced to work to pay for their own clothes and entertainment, as soon as they were old enough to get a paper route or mow lawns, the youngest has at times had 2 jobs. The courts have given her free rein with the so called "child support" in the fact she is not held accountable in how it is spent – without having to prove she is paying anything towards the support of the child herself. All of this burden it put on the NCP. It is well past time for a change in the archaic ways "child support" systems are being run!!!!!
