Debby Fellows

When I divorced 17 years ago and my ex fell upon hard times, I took it upon myself to support my children.

I gave birth to them. I took responcibilty for them. They never heard me say a bad word against their father. Even though I divorced him, I never made my children divorce him.

That was not my right. It is not your right. It is not the court's right.

I encouraged him to see the children as freely as he wanted to. He had a schedule he kept but it never prevented him from calling up and asking if they wanted to go for an ice cream, or a walk to the park. And believe in me, it helped me get on with my life.

Now 17 years later, my children love and respect me. And they love their dad.

All the money in the world could never replace that in their hearts.

I wish the women of the world would stop looking at the men as money and take responsibility for their actions. I am not saying that the fathers shouldn't be responsible but I am saying that if you would sell your child's heart for a few thousand or a million dollars, what kind of person are you anyway? There is more to life than money.

There is love. It's the only thing worth fighting for.
