Kevin Gidley

Kevin Gidley...divorced two years and counting with a 9 and 5 year old.

My ex wife...like many of thge others stories I have read is PROFITING from the child support (or should I say alimony) she is receiving from me. I am a teacher and consider my salary to be pretty good (60K) but after taxes and child support that 60K turns to about 22K. I have to have a house, pay utilities, provide food and gas for my car...yet I can't even buy groceries on a regular basis because my income is going to my ex. She has taken trips to Europe (without kids) Florida, trip to northern Michigan several times a month...but I find it difficult to fill up my gas tank each week with the $180 I have left over each so I can drive the 100 mile round trip to see my kids each weekend or to go watch them in their sports or activities!!

She lives in a $260000 house in a very well to do community while I bust my ass to pay for a $1000 month bungalow in Redford, MI. She takes all the tax breaks and I get nothing in return for the support I provide my kids.

Parenting and scheduling issues abound and yet I am the bad guy.

Long and short of it...child support is too damn high for the lifestyle she leads and the life I am not even able to live at all...FOC and the courts/laws don't give a rat's ass about the non-custodial parent and their daily life's needs and expenses and even though I don't want to wish my kid's lives away...but I can not wait until they are both 18 and I can maybe begin to have some diginity back in terms of my financial situation...as it stands now...the courts have authorized the removal of diginity from all divorced men with children and are punishing them for having a realtionship that was unable to be worked out or saved for whatever reason. Ihave a Master's degree and a good job and the courts only see that as a larger number to give to the custodial parent...
